

Steam Up aims to assess the substantial and easy to reach energy-saving potential of steam systems in heavy industries, to support the EU objectives for energy efficiency. To this end, Steam Up is going to present concrete business cases to decision makers, based on 75 detailed audits from several European countries. A capacity building program for technical staff and consultancies ensures a good return on investments.
There is a large, easy to access energy-saving potential in all sector of the European industry. Aim of the Steam Up project is to increase the energy efficiency of steam contribute to CO2 reduction by saving 55.6 GWh per year in the heavy industry through-out Europe. The European industry has a saving potential of 13%; 75% of which is found in industries that use steam and electrical motor systems. In general these are large energy-intensive industries like chemicals, paper and pulp, food and textile services.
